Displacing Indigenous Australians

I'm extremely confused, are they or aren't they?

Re: Displacing Indigenous Australians

Perhaps you need to set up a tent Embassy like they did in Portland and then complain because the local council wouldnt provide them with toilets, electricty and running water as was their "right"

No urban myths in my life. I talk from experience.

I've travelled to remote settlements and and had the amazing priviledge of staying in isolated indigenous communities. The most recent last September to document housing with a friend who is photographing indigenous traditional housing.

When was the last time you spent time with an indigenous group in an isolated settlement?

(And, no, driving past the Todd River in Alice Springs in your airconditioned car on your way to somewhere else does not count).

That's prob what you did, a flying visit to take pictures.

"Amazing priveledge" gives you away straight away, did you have a religious spiritual experience too? like mosr novices who go and "visit" an aboriginal community.

What a laugh and a total disgrace to perpetrate your opinions on here that in fact add nothing to the debate, just the same old leftist view to leave them in the dirt, the noble savage outlook so many of you have and regurgitate as "knoweledge" when in fact taking a photo shoot on a flying vistit is insulting to the people.

Gawking and taking pictures is a throw back to the first whites who saw the natives as a novelty.

That's all I will say to you on this subject I will not waste my time with your opinions.

Lobs - I honestly don't know how you can stand it.

I get so frustrated and angry by the rubbish posted so I can't even comprehend how you must feel when you read what people say about your culture.

Re: Displacing Indigenous Australians

Perhaps you havent experienced having rocks thrown at your head which broke your nose, cheek and jaw bones and permanently damaged your sight in one eye.

Perhaps you havent had rocks thrown at your car, had both your house and property damaged, had rotting food thrown all over your house, dog poo smeared all over your car and letter box, experienced death threats and a whole lot more.

Had to sell your house  and move because you couldnt take the threats to your life, aggression, filthy language any more

NO I have NO sympathy whatsoever and I never will

Re: Displacing Indigenous Australians

It is so very sad, future generations will look back in horror.

Off topic a little, one of the best museums I have been to was in Washington DC, the National Museum of the American Indian.

It frightens me that in the future all we will have is museums.

Isn't that tarring everyone with the same brush?

Of course it is.

Some white men are rapists.  That doesn't mean they all are.

Actually, my father used to build subdivisions for them, only to have them destroyed. My daugher has lived in Perth for 4 years and now lives in Newman. Saturday night I am going to an Insight into Indigenous Culture. I definitely would not tar Indigenous Australians with the same brush, even though my daughter has had some terrifying situations to deal with - in fact she was robbed yesterday.
