I've noticed I seem to respond more to hay fever these days but don't remember it having much of an effect on me when I was younger.
I also noticed when I eat prawns now I get a slight itchness which I don't recall ever having.
Is this an age thing???

The first time ever I got hayfever I was about 32. For few years I had it very bad; so bad that I had to move from the 6 acres back to the city. And from then my allergies got better although I did move back to out of city few years later; it might be that the medications got more effective in the past few years. Nowadays I use nasal spray when I start feeling my nose getting irritated and it just goes away. Only used the spray once this summer so far.

I'm allergic to sorbolene in any hand or body lotion. It brings me out in a rash. Don't know if it's because of age though, or wether I didn't need to use moisturiser much when I was younger
I guess that makes it because of age

I never had allergies as a kid but started getting them in my mid 30s. I then had to take claratyne when I started sneezing heavily and getting itchy eyes for no reason. I thought to myself why is this happening now. So I began a new lifestyle which consists of a glass of water with lemon first thing in the morning followed by a veggie+fruit smoothie and a light sandwich. Most days lunch is my main meal and dinner time I try to have something light with protein and no eating after 7pm. Been doing this for 6 months and haven't had any allergies since!
The smoothie recipe:
1 tea spoon chia seeds
1 tea spoon raw organic cocoa powder
1/4 tea spoon or less of cinnamon powder
1/2 carrot
1/2 cucumber
A small bunch alfa alfa
A few leaves lettuce
A few leaves spinach
1.5 cups water or 2 if I want more liquid.
I then set my vitamix pro to 'smoothie' setting.
In about 1min I get a full jug of goodness. Better than anything you can buy!

I forgot to say: I sometimes substitute some of the stuff with 1/2 banana or 1/2 mango

That sounds good, ufo.
I have a similar regime with lots of fruit and veg.
I also drink a lot of water and have lemon in my tea, no milk no sugar.
I think that's why my stomach does a flip flop whenever I contemplate at all the leftovers from Christmas in the fridge.

I have no sugar either except for a treat of chocolate maybe once a week.

Prawns are treated on the trawler with a chemical to give them the nice pinkish colour, and I guy I know who has a seafood business says that out on the boat, nobody is too fussy about exact doses. You could be reacting to the chemical (which also may have changed lately) or the prawns themselves. Also many allergens and food intolerances take a period of exposure - could be years - before we actually start perceiving, or displaying physical reactions.
Another possibility is the immune system itself being under stress - no surprise at this time of year! I have an immune system disease, which comes with a few food allergies/intolerances and have noticed that if I'm tired or stressed or unwell in some other respect, any reactions are worse than usual.
If you're getting itchy/inflamation you should be mindful of your throat and any swelling there. I'm not trying to freak you out but I have a friend who had eaten avocado all her life and suddenly ate some and wound up with breathing difficulties and a head that looked like a soccer ball! She has to carry an epi-pen now in case someones slips her some avo in a salad or something.
I'll sign off on that happy note...
Marina.
