Do you object to BAG INSPECTIONS at stores?

Do you object to staff asking to inspect your bag? (they are only doing their job)

Will you shop at a  store that asks to inspect your bag or will you go elsewhere?

Do bag inspections and security checks help to stop shop lifting and keep prices down?

If you object WHY?

Do you think that objecting to a bag inspection makes a person look guilty or they are guilty?

Rememer that its a condition of entry at just about every major /medium/small store in Australia

Big W does have signs up. The person on the door may not of been able to point them out, but they are up.

I also dont believe the door staff was shuffling through the bags.

If they were, which i dont believe, instead of whinging to the staff member, she should of asked to speak to the manager.

As i said earlier in this thread, you got a problem, dont take it out on the staff member, speak to the manager

So far today, I have been treated as an irritation; a shop-lifting suspect; and now,  to top it all off, a liar, to boot.

What can I say?

I can say this ddb . . . you live in Adelaide, don't you?

You could visit Westfield Marion's Big W store and see for yourself.

A photo of their signs would be nice, too. good luck with that.

Neither do I. I suggest to that poster -   get over it.  He might object strongly to bag checking but most of us here don't.  It seems our self esteem is not threatened by it as some.

So you're all hapy to be treated as though you were a shop-lifter, as normal matter of course?

Well, I'm not happy with that  . . . and as far as I can recall, the defence of "I'm only obeying orders" is not an accpetable excuse for treating people badly.

The staff on the floor are employed to do a job under instructions from their employers. If you have any complaint with how they are enforcing rules etc, ask to speak to the floor supervisor/manager or store manager.

There is no point in hassling floor staff if they are carrying out the instructions of their superiors. If they disregard the rules they are required to do by management and lisen to some cranky customer, they could get fired. They don't make the rules, they are paid to enforce them.

I dont think you are a liar, I believe you, as I know there are many shops that dont have signs up, and as for going through the bags, I believe that as well................that is why no one gets to look let alone touch my handbag.......

see my previous post am*3

anyway, it seems that there is a preponderance of thoroughly cowed and intimidated shoppers on this thread.

You're no less depressing, not to say just a little bit scary, for 'a that.

If you have read the whole of this thread you would already have worked out the majority of posters have no problem with complying with a stores bag check policy when they enter those stores.

We have already established that personal handbags ( not huge ones) are not usually required to be opened.

There are about 3-4 posters who loudly object to opening their bags. That has no effect at all on the future behaviour of us that do not object.

It is not about 'obeying orders' for most of us. The store has a bag check policy & we don't mind if they enforce it.
