?
Do you object to BAG INSPECTIONS at stores?
Do you object to staff asking to inspect your bag? (they are only doing their job)
Will you shop at a store that asks to inspect your bag or will you go elsewhere?
Do bag inspections and security checks help to stop shop lifting and keep prices down?
If you object WHY?
Do you think that objecting to a bag inspection makes a person look guilty or they are guilty?
Rememer that its a condition of entry at just about every major /medium/small store in Australia

I don't think I've ever been asked for a handbag check & I think I'd be slightly annoyed if I was asked.
I have been asked to open a big green shopping bag, by people at the exit and sometimes I just open it without them even asking.
as far as suing anyone over it has anyone ever been involved in a lawsuit?? You would need very deep pockets to do that . Most cases are eventually settled out of court and even if you win, it can still be a finacial loss. You get awarded a ""costs'' payment by the judge which may not even cover all your legal bills

it is humiliating, but maybe some people don't feel that way because they remain unaware of the humiliation being heaped upon them. To ask to check a person's bags is to imply that the person is suspected of shop-lifting.
That is your view only. It isn't mine.
I am not a shop lifter, I am quite happy to show that I am not.. nothing humiliating in doing that.
Others may not have responded to your question simply because they have left the thread and haven't been back. That means we don't know what their opinion is.. whether they would feel humiliated or not.
You seem bent on trying to make people feel humilated and aggro about bag checks when they aren't and don't need to be. Like you want to recruit more people to your way of thinking.
I don't mind if you don't approve of bag checks.. it doesn't affect me or other shoppers in anyway.
Also as many others have posted they see the bag check as a 30 sec thing, no further thought about it, and continue on their way.

Is your post directed at me Am3?
because I am not hell bent on making people feel humilated about anything

No, it isn't debra
Acacia is the one with the fixation on ' oh the humiliation' for people being bag checked. ' I feel like a thief'.

it might be a good idea to direct posts to the person you're responding to. Less confusing that way IMO

am*3 . . please don't misquote me. I don't feel like a thief . . . it's the store management which implies that they think I/we might be a thief . .
otherwise, why do they ask to check our bags?

I did quote a paragraph from acacia;s previous post in that post of mine (post 282), and the rest of my post related to acacia's comment.
I wouldn't have thought anyone else would have thought it was directed to them for that reason.

sorry I didn't know what you were talking about I haven't read all the posts, too many pages for me lol

To those to object so strenuously to having their bags searched - shop on-line exclusively
I could not give a rats about being asked to open my shopping bag/handbag/whatever. I could not care less ..... nothing to hide and they might find the winning lotto ticket for me ...... I have been searching for it for ages
The 'sensitivity' of some is laughable really ....... plenty of other far more important things to concern yourselves about in the real world. Try it sometime

The store bag checker, may not think we are a thief.. not until they find something stolen in our bags? Before that they are just doing their job required of them by management.
