I am not really sure because I haven't spent a lot of time with Americans.
I visited the US last year and found the people to be a lot more polite and friendlier than here.

I think they are both as blunt as each other but there is a difference in the reasons for their bluntness.
Australians tend to be more open and honest. But it's more about trying to understand things better.
Americans tend to open their mouths without thinking of the consequences beyond how it affects them. And it;s usually because they want others to understand them.
Either way - both nations come across as rude. ๐

I voted "no".
I agree with martini here. Aussies are open and say it like it is up to a point.
Americans can be blunt but there is a self serving component here.

I have found from personal experience that in 'The land of the free and the home of the brave" they have developed such an inflated sense of worth that they have now been replaced as God's chosen people, at least in their own eyes.
I have witnessed at close hand that even very close friends would not mention if one had a big greenie hanging out of the nose of the other for fear of offending.
They have no tolerance to having flaws pointed out to them even if it is in their best interest .

I love America & the people. They are friendly but they can't take any kind of candid critique, the PC is far too strong over there.
Bit like me I guess, nobody likes to be criticised.

Like the above post?
I agree with the title, 2 of my best friends are Americans, I have lived for some months in, and worked in the USA, whilst a son worked/lived there for a year in Wyoming.

I think.... it depends on personalities....nothing to do with where you live, imo.
I have often been surprised to find that people are very different to what I have been told to expect.

Same thing applies here in Oz these days. So many Aussies don't like being told the truth much either.
