Do you think you're getting wiser as you're getting older?

Are you wiser now?

What are the things you know now or have an opinion on now that you didn't have when you were younger?

I don't know about getting wiser as I get older but with the benefit of hindsight I think I react to situations in a different way.

Age is the price we pay for the gaining of wisdom.

I'm much wiser with people now. If I don't need someone, I don't need them. I simply don't waste my time surrounding myself with those whose company I don't enjoy. Same goes for interractions in the real world (those online don't matter to me as it's so easy to scroll past what they say). I'm nice about it but I physically avoid those I don't like: they do not exist to me. I've blocked people from my past on Facebook I don't wish to be contacted by: I once spent two hours blocking names, it was bliss. There are some streets I don't walk down if I don't like the neighbours living there and I won't visit a shop if I don't want to look at certain sales assistants (like the women in Big W), even if they sell something I want (rarely from Big W!). So easy today with online shopping. Technology has enabled me to avoid certain personality types I don't wish to examine and it's been heaven. Truly. Trudy? Truly.

Re: Do you think you're getting wiser as you're getting older?

Wiser in some aspects of my life for sure,  but mostly more knowledgeble when it comes to absorbing facts...and finally making sense of some of the stuff I was taught at school (like chemistry LOL).. Letting go of regrets is also something I have been managing at last.

My interests have expanded over the years and thankfully I still have the ability to retain what I have learned....and I like looking up new stuff.  I also like to read (the old fashioned way - with a real book) and I buy more reference books than fiction these days.

Tolerance however.....not so much.  I like how the internet has expanded avenues for learning, but unfortunately it is balanced with having to live in the Era of Trolls, Influencers and Other Time Wasters that frankly, the internet, if not the whole world, could do without.  It is dispiriting to see how many nutters there are, pushing some crazy agenda to goodness knows what end.

I would also add that at my age (60 plus) I really don't care what people think of me.  I probably never really did actually, but now I say so.  Give it your best shot if you can but it won't matter to me in the slightest.  I can easily remain unaffected by anyone's opinion of what I think and say.  My parents didn't raise me to be weak and scared of my own shadow.
