Crikey, lots of people like others to know that they have a high IQ, especially in circumstances where people might not realize they are associating with geniuses, such as online forums. For some unknown reason it is important to their esteem.
I don't know. Most people just want to be like everyone else and fit in with the majority, not draw attention to their differences and isolate themselves. not on purpose.
A high IQ doesn't mean you know anything, it just indicates how you learn and how you process things. Just cos you have a high IQ doesn't mean the information is there inherantly, you still have to learn it to know it, you still have to be exposed to it to absorb it.
it doesn't mean that you will know how to spell or tie your shoe laces. It doesn't mean you will be able to ride a bike.
I don't think that people understand what a genius is if they think that title means anything other than a category. It's just a classification, it is not reflective of what talents are displayed.
intellectual ability is just one of many types of ability, some people have ability with art or sport or just being human. And like all ability, just because you have a natural ability for it, doesn't mean that you display it or perfect it.
for example, a person may be born with a natural ability to swim. Now this may help them win some races or do some things that others have to work at, but if they don't train or they don't work and practise, it is unlikely they will ever become an olympic champion. A person who puts in effort and tries may well display greater talents and acheive more.
If Ian Thorpe or Keiren Perkins had never trained, or at least no9t seriously, then they would not have acheived what they did, and the Glen Housemans of the world may well have risen above them performance wise.

Poor Max - It is supposed to be by some one anonymous so the accreditation would go to an unknown person.

so, any thoughts on what I mentioned before - a person of 'genius' being born into an 'uncontacted tribe' - ie a situation where there was no chance to learn anything except the daily life skills.

I think there would be geniuses/people with very high IQ's that have never been tested...because they live in 3rd world countries and never have the opportunity to get tested.
I also think people shouldn't post stuff, which is factually incorrect, geniuses or not.
