Nothing important but I'm noticing more and more that people are pronouncingv it Cans, like Cannes in the Riviera (except that Cannes in the Riviera has a silent S) I even heard it pronounced Cans on the ABC today. Is this a new thing or iwhat?
. How do locals pronounce it?
Someone please put me out of my misery as it's bugging me.

Couldn't get back to answer your Q yesterday and I'm not all that sure that I can answer it without being too offensive so I'll attempt to tone it down. I think the answer can be found somewhere between education (lack of) and laziness with a smattering of gender thrown in. I don't want to elaborate any further than that ... I get into a good deal of trouble voicing my opinions, as you probably know.
As for hacky sack .. although Kope's assumptions are correct about jumping out of perfectly good planes, I have never played hacky sack. I once saw a group of U.S. marine types playing the game, and playing it well, but that's about as close as I have been to a hacky sack.
