The thing is...........be a single mum once and be looked after by the gov, be a single mum of more then its your bad luck.

A family where the dad works really hard for his family sometimes needs a hand up.

A single woman that has been divorced should be looked after also.

All senerios should stop when additional children are made,  having more children that we tax payers have to pay for.

what if you have a husband/partner and have been together years and have a number of children then he walks out, you are still a single parent.  personally i have no problem with single parents getting help.  i am glad people are supported in keeping their children with them and being able to stay home and look after them for the first few years at least.

a single woman who has divorced should be able to look after herself as one would presume if single she would have a job/career and an income of her own.  women are quite capable of looking after themselves

Such is life.

Regardless of whether you are single, partnered or whatever...if you can support yourself, you should endeavour to do so. Whether that be by seeking a job, educating yourself to improve your prospects or in some way paying it forward to society. We are very lucky to have the system we have in Australia.

Shhhhhh, people will always sit in judgement and point the finger. Keep up the attitude and ethic that you have had in the entire time we have seen you post here. You are doing nothing wrong, anyone that wants to judge you for your life and choices and circumstances is not a friend and not worth giving weight to their opinion.

I think Crystal may be trying to say a single woman who has one child, then goes out and gets pregnant again, still as a single woman, not a woman who has multiple children already, then becomes single.

Thats my point. As a single parent you still get the same amount of single parent money (newstart or PPS depending on age) no mater how many kids you have. Only your FTB is increased per child and that is reduced when child support is added in.

Is there any difference to a married a couple where the husband works but doesn't earn much and they continue to have children while the mother stays home and collects PPP?

Is there any difference to families where the parents receive FTB and the mother stays home while the dad works and they continue to spit out kids? For 3 kids they could be getting over $800 in FTB while a single mother with 1 child would get that and be forced to go out and work when the kid reaches how ever old and gets the tag of bludging single mother, the other mother gets to do as she pleases.

takes 2 to make a baby....why is the finger always pointed at the woman as being the single parent? Some choose not to marry despite a long relationship with the man of of a second child....for that she is frowned upon as a serial single.mother. There is only one zure way to prevent pregnancy......all the others are never 100% fool proof.

The rules are changing for people who started receiving Parenting Payment before 1 July 2006. The same rules will apply to these parents as to someone who is claiming for the first time.

From 1 January 2013, you will no longer be eligible for Parenting Payment when your youngest child turns:

six years of age if you receive Parenting Payment Partnered, or eight years of age if you receive Parenting Payment Single.

I suppose it's more user friendly to explain away the additional children if you are partnered  :^O

But it seems the PPP recipients are also required to find work.
