Can't find what I was reading today (sorry) but the suggestion was that it was/is quite damaging that it is discouraged in our society.
I personally like men and boys to cry and show emotion,
Do you think it is damaging?
I'm not talking about babies btw.

Must make it difficult for them when they really want to cry, having a cry can relieve a lot of stress and is probably good for you.
I don't know but that is what my instincts tell me.
I think the suck it up attitude has been created by men over the generations. It's not healthy and it's not necessary. There is nothing wrong with expressing emotions as you feel them. Putting a lid on them completely just seems to lead to explosive reactions at some later stage.

the brits hey!? that must be the root of it all
i dunno whether movies are a reflection, you see men can get quite emotional from other parts of the world, on live time tv too, not afraid to express themselves

I dont like to cry in front of people, I dont like the attention it gets. But its not specifically crying, I just generally dont like to be the centre of attention.
When I found out my grandfather was dying, a few months back, I was out shopping and I sat down in front of a store and blubbered for about 15 minutes. I could have done with some attention that time, I didnt have any tissues!
My son is like me too, doesnt like to cry in front of people. He says he doesnt like to feel sad so he just tries to think of something else.

mmmm....i wish they wouldn't cry on masterchef, that's everybody though. I suppose men aren't encouraged to cry and i would find it unattractive if any of my friends or Mr Boris cried at the drop of a hat. Crying has its place, pets dying is certainly one of them.
