Does this class as a lie?

"I think if there was a permanent increase in taxation that would certainly be inconsistent with the sort of things that were said before the election".

Let's add this one to Abbotts long list of lies and broken promises shall we?

(And at the same time, let's not forget Julia Gillards single backtrack - CT - for which she was mercilessly hounded by press and Opposition alike.)

Voters know what was said because it was repeated so often - no new taxes, no broken promises, no surprises, no excuses.

Let's be clear. Abbott is asking for the kind of understanding from voters that he did so much to deny the previous government.

But as to the claim of an emergency or a crisis, that is not supported by the facts.

Re: Does this class as a lie?

The difference is,  Gillard was accused of lying, but the truth is she didn't lie at all what she said was:-

“There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead, but let me be clear: I will be putting a price on carbon and I will move to an emissions trading scheme.

That's beside the point. As long as he keeps the relentless attack on Labor by blaming them for every bad decision he makes and as long as the dominant press don't report the truth his plan to wipe out any opposition will succeed.

Where are the News Corp stories about the corrupt liberal funding arrangements?

Where are the reports of Abbott's involvement?

Who paid into the funds to get the fast action on the second airport?

What did it cost for the great Easst West Link we keep hearing about?

How much did it cost Rupe the get the NBN killed off?

it's not beside the point though, the point being - Does this class as a lie? - the answer is yes in a long, long line of many.

It might be a lie but unless it is broadcast as such most people won't take any notice.  If it wasn't for the constant name calling of Gillard as liar most people wouldn't have joined in for the attack.  As long as the dominant media ignore the abbott lies they won't matter to him.  With the media by his side (or providing the background advertising at every press conference he makes) all we hear everyday is how bad Labor was and how we all have to pay out cash now because of how bad Labor was.  Repeat, repeat, repeat..... truth doesn't matter in the art of brainwashing.

"And at the same time, let's not forget Julia Gillards single backtrack - CT....."

Hmmmm INAM,  "single backtrack"?  do these ring a bell? :

Gillard backtracks on support for equal pay for women

Julia Gillard Backtracks On Timor Solution

Julia Gillard's broken promise on pokies reform

“Today I can say on behalf of the government we are determined to deliver a budget surplus in 2012-13 – and we will,” she said.

The Gillard Government has been forced to backdown from a plan to retrospectively cut $107 million from Victorian hospitals.

Sadly Labor's sunshine lasted just one day. On 13 October, the government was forced to backtrack yet again on its refugee policy and agree that asylum seekers would be processed in Australia after all.

“Today I can say on behalf of the government we are determined to deliver a budget surplus in 2012-13 – and we will,” she said.

Ms Gillard and Mr Swan had repeatedly said the surplus was a "guarantee" and would be delivered "come hell or high water" because it was vital to taking pressure off the cost of living. Last year the PM said "you can't run this country if you can't manage its Budget".

However INAM, that last bit was true,    Poor Me could not manage the  Budget, and does not run the country !

Re: Does this class as a lie?

MM the pokies package wouldn't have passed. the bill didn't have sufficient support. they ring every senator and ask. Wilkie is someone i have some regard for , but his claims on that day were  a show for his electorate , a classic ''i'm an independent and i'm not happy''

The skewed story that gillard pulled a swifty on wilkies bill is false.
