I read that too freaky. It was an excellent sum up of how I felt (and it seems many other felt) about Abbotts contributions to world economy this week.

And no it is just our opinion that TA is boring, boorish & ignorant:
The Financial Times UK’s economics editor, Chris Giles, tweeted:
'Sign of the times. Iran's President Hassan Rouhani packed out the hall. Everyone is leaving before Tony Abbott explains Australia’s ambitions for the G20 in 2014.'

I have thought of another thing tone is well on his way to doing, he is actually making Bush look a little intelligent, a few more trips abroad and he might even do what most would have considered impossible - make Bush look smart, (that's probably over stating it, but you never know).

bugger, I don't have sound.

Unfortunately neither had anything of note to say. Oh yes there was the misogynist speech.
TA has shown he is incapable to handling himself in any situation which requires even minimal social skills......a complete and utter bumbling dill. ..
Can you show some examples of that pls? Or is that just in your opinion?
this post bothers me in that it associates minimal social skills with a deficiency in intelligence.
John Nash springs to mind here. A distinct inability to adapt to and engage in almost all areas requiring social skills, yet was awarded. among other things, a Nobel Prize.

I've been reading news about Davos and am staggered that not one mention is made of Abbott (as far as I ahev seen) other than noting his attendance or voicing bewliderment at his comments.
That is staggering given that he gave a key note address and will be hosting the G20 next and this is meant to be the preamble to that event.
He doesn't even show up in the highlights or inspiring quotes from the WEFs own forum website. But I wonder if Schwab was recalling his earlier 'mountain' moment with Abbott when he said this: "A great leader has brains, vision, soul, values and a heart."

I think Crikey that a leader can't be a great leader without social skills. People like John Nash can get by on their brains alone because they don't need anything else for their profession.
Nevertheless, no-one is is saying he is dumb cause he lacks social skills. I would say he is dumb AND lacks social skills.

Crikey,
I don't think the post was meant to be about anyone but tone and I don't imagine tone will ever ever be considered for any kind of prize, except maybe a booby prize.

Obviously, you did not listen to Gillard speaking; she is considered very intelligent, interesting and amusing speaker, that is why she is invited to speak. Or maybe what Gillard and Rudd said went right over your head; maybe you need the 3 word sentences that TA is so good at.
Ms Gillard is considered so intelligent and interesting that she was able to maintain the position of Prime Minister for how long?
As an advocate for women and also for acheivements in two traditionally male dominated fields, I understand her value as a speaker, but apart from that, as you say, I am sure that her other acheivements are indeed considered amusing.
As I said, I have attended functions where even Warrick Capper was invited to speak.
I'd much prefer someone who knew how to run my country rather than a show pony with poorly, ill conceived and implemented ideas.
