The final draft of the Closing the Gap Partnership Agreement indicates it is more concerned about imprisoned abusers within the Indigenous community than the woman and children who were their victims, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.
Ms Panahi said reports of the final agreement pinpointed the primary focus as reducing the level of incarceration in Indigenous communities, effectively sidestepping the target to reduce violence against women and girls over the age of 15 by 50 per cent.
Statistics showed Indigenous females are 35 times more likely to be victims of domestic abuse than other Australian women.
“Domestic violence is not just a crisis in Indigenous communities, it is an epidemic that is a national disgrace,” Ms Panahi said.
“And yet taxpayer-funded Our Watch, which is supposed to combat the scourge of domestic violence, blames colonization and white settlement for the high rates of abuse suffered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children.”

""Blames colonisation and white settlement"" IoI Is this an outsider do-gooder deduction in order to stir up anti-Anglo sentiment or what the black women think ?
As everyone who has had any unbiased experience with such people groups should know that while they tend to be reactionary, impulsive and physical relative to Anglo middle Australia , there are checks and balances - you can be sure that any culturally determined abuse will be corrected by massed visitation of the multitute of extended family members - they do have values and standards

Rather than pointing the finger at white settlement, the root cause of the problem needs to be addressed. Root cause = greedy blood thirsty empire invading countries and taking whatever they can stuff into their pockets.

Ancient history - get over it
For a doctor to make a proper diagnosis to effect a proper cure he / she would have to look at the root cause. Recognition of this no matter how far back in the history of the patient is the best way to begin treatment. Looking at the symptoms and treating them as they pop up is a superficial approach. Doc needs to understand the root cause and see what still lingers and how it can be worked on.

There's no doubt that domestic violence and child abuse are at endemic proportions within aboriginal communities but the causes and cures like everything else in indigenous affairs are extremely complex.
Its true that with European settlement, the laws and structures of traditional aboriginal society have broken down meaning they are no longer preventing domestic violence. The problem is that aided and abetted by some in the white community ( BLM ? ) who encourage separatism, anger and resentment. indigenous Australians are no longer able to practice traditional law, but do not accept or respect modern Australian law and order either. Many indigenous Australians are living without any culture or law and the results including DV, indigenous child abuse and endemic general offending and incarceration are clear to see.
The recent uproar over the barbaric stoning to death of a Wombat by an off duty Aboriginal police officer and traditional aboriginal practices such as symbolic spearing of offenders and the trading of young woman are no longer accepted by any civilised society and have no place in the 21st century.
Rather than fighting for what was lost nearly 250 years ago, modern indigenous Australians need to accept the past, move on and develop and embrace a new identity which accepts modern law and social practice.
Its all down to indiginous Australians and their supporters now to accept and embrace modern society. The white fellas can provide the opportunities, but they cant do it for them.......Until this happens the endemic social problems for indigenous Australians will continue unabated.
