Prime Minister Tony Abbott says he believes a meeting between federal, state and territory leaders is the best forum to tackle domestic violence.
His comment follows a call by Opposition Leader Bill Shorten in January for a national crisis summit on the issue so survivors, police, child protection officers, women's shelter staff, judges and federal, state and territory leaders could devise a national plan.
Seventeen in every 100 Australian women has faced violence from a current or previous partner, and on average one is killed each week.
"It's a national disgrace," Mr Shorten told reporters in Canberra.
What do you think needs to see changed ??

No one going to comment on the article ?
A Woman suggesting women submit to sexual abuse, violence and forced sex - and probably other types of abuse as well - and not one comment after all the arguments on here ?
What's to say about it? It's appalling. It's not what we want for our children.
And these are the people that have a say it seems.Social media has become the "look at me" Karcashian thing so much that none of them care anymore.

Okay Vic. I think it is appalling. I can hardly believe if that is a true report and not taken out of context.
Be a shame if the intern happened to have slipped with a scalpel.
And thinking on it, perhaps it could happen in Legal circles as well - the "power game", I mean.
You rub my back, I'll rub yours, scenario. For a hastened career move.
Just some thoughts. Will consider further.

I read this article this morning and was astounded that a female made those suggestions to young medical trainees. How dare this woman place vulnerable young women in such a position?
With her public statement she practically condoned such acts and gave the go-ahead to letcherous, filthy and depraved colleges to molest young trainees.
She belongs in a Mental Home, not in a Hospital being addressed as Doctor.
Absolutely disgusting woman.

Does her statement reflect her own journey on her career path?
