All myths.

things can become white elephants if the luddites gain control, its also another good reason to re-elect a sensible government rather than a silly liberal one.
as an aside, the polling in New England looks like seeing Joyce out of a seat ATM, he might regret counting his chickens.. but he might not be alone on that score.

So Malcolm Turnbull is effectively suggesting that we roll out a cheaper, short-term network instead of leap-frogging it for the NBN. Heโs suggesting we roll out a network that other countries have already decided is inadequate, and are replacing. And that is the first crux of the FTTN debate: It is unarguably a stop-gap solution.
Even manufacturers of FTTN equipment say this, admitting they expect FTTP to be the standard within 10-15 years.
Given that it will take 10 years to roll out FTTP in Australia, to step backwards to FTTN at this stage would be an incredible waste of time and money.
FTTN would have been a great idea 5 years ago. But now, itโs out of date. Countries around the World are already beginning to replace their FTTN networks with FTTP. The NBN is our opportunity to leapfrog these countries, and save the billions of dollars associated with the double-upgrade. Economists have been suggesting we do this since 2007!
FTTN, while an incremental improvement on what we have now, is a short-sighted waste of time and money that will still leave Australia lagging behind the rest of the developed World, squandering billions of dollars on obsolete technology in the process.

Abbott is not playing fair โ Removing super contribution will hurt working poor
Opposition leader Tony Abbottโs budget reply pledge to discontinue the Low Income Earners Superannuation Contribution (LISC) will hit the retirement savings of thousands of low-paid Australian workers.
This scheme, which provides a credit of up to $500 directly back to the superannuation accounts of workers earning less than $37,000 per year, would be scrapped if the Coalition is elected in September โbecause thatโs also funded from the (mining) tax that isnโt raising any revenueโ.
Ironically, although Tony Abbott keeps sledging the Government about not implementing measures recommended by the Henry tax Review, he is planning to axe one of the few changes that can be traced back to the findings of that Review

The carbon tax, the ETS and the compensating tax cuts would all be scrapped under a Coalition government. Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has promised instead to use taxpayers' funds to pay industry to cut emissions.

Treasurer Wayne Swan and Climate Change Minister Greg Combet said the budget would postpone the tax cuts until 2018-19, when the new forecasts assume the carbon price will top $25.
"Since the carbon price commenced, Australia's economy and employment have continued to grow", they said.
Credible???

I actually think that increasing super is a fantastic idea ATM. We all know that Australia is facing an aging population& I'm sure that MOST people would aspire to being self funded retirees, if they can, rather than being on the pension .
so, no I don't see it as a white elephant, I see it as being very forward thinking
