Downton Abbey

I always love Downton Abbey but I was a bit disappointed in the final episode.

It seemed to me to be very hastily contrived to tie up all the loose ends and give a happy ending for everyone.

Most of the storylines could have been expanded to take up another 2 or 3 episodes.

Having said that, it is not going to stop me watching the DVDs from series one again.

One fascinating little snippet...when Edith mentioned the year she was born it made her the same age as my grandmother.  It was interesting to see some of the clothing that Edith wore in the series could have come straight from my grandmother's photo album

it was very predicatble wasn't it?  wont spoil it for anyone else but you could pretty much pick what was going to happen from the onset.  Have loved this show though and sad it's ended, loved all the characters, just a really enjoyable show.  Need to find something else now!

I didn't mind the happy ending Lyndal and like you I really enjoyed the costumes etc of the earlier shows. Maggie Smith was magnificent in her role I thought

I did not mind the happy ending at all but I just thought it was all too rushed and somehow did not fit in with the slower pace of the show in general.

I was very glad to see that Maggie Smith got the last word though....somehow it was very fitting.

I agree, it seemed rushed together.

If you haven't seen it, take a look at Ladies in Lavender. Great movie.

Is it on TV?  The name rings a bell.

It was a movie that came out ages ago but is a very nice movie with a different story than what we are used to.

With Maggie Smith and Judy Dench.

I mentioned it as Lyndal seems to like Maggie Smith as an actor.

Probably need to find the DVD or is prob avail on paid TV.
