Dr Chris Higgins demands appology

Am I the only one who expects that when I go to see my doctor I will not come home with new disease?  I would hope doctor should not spread common cold, flu and definitely not COVID19.  This guy saw 70 patients, and who knows where else he went in the week before he was diagnosed.

I think it is a hard call.

Apparently the doctor didn't think he fit the criteria for testing. He wasn't all that sick, just thought he had a bit of a cold.

“I had a mild cold when I returned from the USA last Saturday morning which had almost resolved itself by Monday morning, hence my decision to return to work.

I dislike posts which don't provide links and I'm afraid I'm one of them today..

I definitely read that this doctor self-tested and found he was infected but still returned to work.

Haven't seen it since , guess there could be law suits flying around  and hopefully the news source was wrong.

OR

maybe someone printed an inacurate report and re wrote it?

we shouldn't believe everything we read.

and i only read the ABC website and thats got new stories every 5 minutes to do with the virus.

wouldnt suprise me if getting facts right was put second to getting in print before your competitor.

Re: Dr Chris Higgins demands appology

The original report said the doctor interrupted his holidays in the USA, got on the 1st flight available to get home (by the way, 2 people from that flight now tested positive).

In the way, I do not blame him getting home fast; I would not want to be stranded in the USA with COVID19 and no insurance.  Not to mention their total incompetence dealing with the infection:

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/3/5/1924697/-Man-who-visited-China-during-coronavirus-outbreak...

However, I believe he got tested as soon as he got to work - the tests take few days.

Of course, doctors an nurses do not normally stay at home with mild cold, but is is NOT NORMAL.  Whole Italy is now closed down.

As far as court cases go just wait if people get seriously ill or die.  I asked my friends who are doctors, and privately they are absolutely horrified with what this man did.

I think the test has to be done in a laboratory and takes few days.  What he could have done was to supply the sample of whatever it is they test - swab I think. He worked the full week.

This in VIC official info, including all the people infected and the planes they flew on:

One thing that i noticed in a report is that a Sydney school is reopening today after student tested positive. Now, that school has only been shut a matter of days. Certainly not 2 weeks.

The school was being disinfected and cleaned the whole weekend, and 69 people remain in quarantine until the tests come back.
