I prefer not to go into details, thank you, She-el.
Your call, of course, but it renders your comment a trifle specious.

Are red heads (about 2% of the world population) and left-handeders (about 12%) also abnormal. And should our children be shielded from them till they are old enough to understand?
Nice try, She-el, but you don't have to be "turned" into being a red-head, and ppl have long since trying to turn left-handers into being right-handed.
Anyway, that's not the point. Ppl who have tendencies towards homosexuality will go that way. As I said in a previous post, while it's not the social norm, homosexualtity has always been accepted in society. Although underplayed.
We don't need to teach sexuality in schools or educational facilites.
Let's teach children how to read first.

'I agree. but you can be tuned into thinking it's a normal. It's not.'
so you wouldnt let 'normal' kids play with disabled people?
the blind, the deaf, the austistic, those born with missing 'bits'
and the many many other things making them 'not normal'
but really, men dressing as women has been going on for centuries in the entertainment arena.
usually for entertaining children, whats the big deal?

(not in reply to anybody in particular)
I wonder, if there had been no protest by UQ adults whether there would have been any reporting of the reading event OR any thread on this board?
Had there been no protest, my point is, that the kids from that reading session may have felt it was a different type of reading experience by people in colourful outfits and lots of makeup. Many probably wouldn't have realised it was males dressed up unless they were told.
I am assuming that the parents who took their kids to the library reading session had no objections to who was reading the books, otherwise they wouldn't have taken their kids there, or would have taken them somewhere else once they realised.
Not sure that any child attending would be inspired to emulate the readers when they grow up. However, if they do then they may be that way inclined already (even at a young age).

Well - there we go - this was the intial objective.
At a library - to interest children to read.
Oh LOL.

If Ppl who have tendencies towards homosexuality will go that way where does being "tuned into it" come into it?
With regard to left handers, I don't know what your idea of 'long since' is, but my husband was regularly whacked over the knuckles in class for writing with his left hand.
And as for homosexualtity has always been accepted in society until 1976 it was actually illegal here in Australia.

Given the kids were being read to, there is a reasonable chance they were pre-school or very early school age. As Sir Sales said, they would probably not have known that the readers were drag queens. So it is unlikely it would sexualise them.
I have always wondered about the motivations of people who put up 'facts' but won't then support them with any sort of backup, It's like we're supposed to take their word for the verity of anything they choose to post.
