The moral obligation is on each and every parent to decide what they consider ' fitting & best ' for their children.
Take them to the library - don't - their choice.
And certainly not to be judged by some twit with an ability to - wow - GOOGLE.
The moral obligation is also on the community, and libraries are a communal institution.
Remember: "it takes a village to raise a child".
Drag Queens are adult entertainers, and have their place in the adult entertainment industry, no problem.

Who is the ' community '.
The parents.
If the libraries find these sessions viable entertainment for children & parents are willing to participate - here in Australia - what's the darn - hoooo haaaaa.

Not a problem - if it is already empty.

Our checks and balances are probably a little more strict & regimented than the US.
A painter cannot even be contracted to paint a school - unless he and his team have all - been through the process & received their card - to go ahead.
These are police checks.
Wer'e not talking about schools here, though, are we?
Librarians have to be police checked too....just like teachers.

But it's not the librarians reading to the children, is it?

...yet.
By all means it's nice for children to be read to in libraries, but why drag queens?
Because drag queens are performers and have an ability to make the stories come to life.
I have seen how professional actors can play many characters when they read a book.....it is like watching a complet performance by one person.
It is far more entertaining for the kids than the average parent can make storytime.
What stuns me about this thread is the complete contempt being shown for the averge parent's ability to decide what is appropriate for their own children.
It appears that those posters who are so outspoken about what is good for children have never even been to storytime and certainy don't know any drag queens.

Nor does one EVEN have a kid. LOL

What stuns me is the toxic stuff that swirls around in some people's heads. That is what poisons the minds of children and is dangerous, not drag queens reading to them in a library.
