Yeah, that was a very successful deflection manoeuvre of She-el's, making a comparison between Elvis's pelvis action and the oscene and overt genital thrusting action by some of the participants in the Mardi Gras, 4channel.
There's no comparison, of coursed.
Elvis did not dress in women's clothing, and he did not read storybooks to children in libraries. nor was his form of entertainment directed at children.
Points Of Comparison:
1) gyrating and genital thrusting by performers durng Mardi Gras - gyrating and genital thrusting by Elvis during TV performances.
2) Elvis not performing for children - Mardi Gras participants not performing for children.
3) Elvis not reading storybooks to children in libraries - Mardi Gras performers not reading story books to children in libraries.
4) Shock horror reaction of conservatives to Mardi Gras performances - shock horror reaction of conservatives to Elvis's performnce.
The one big difference of course is that some conservatives believe those drag queens reading storybooks to children in libraries are also also gyrating and genital thrusting in front of them - and presumablyin front of their parents too. (oh, and I believe striptease was mentioned in one post also,)

That was 50 years ago! You know nothing counts here unless it happened yesterday! Anyway, it was never as explicit as some of the Mardi Gras participants (in drag) like to make it.
2) Elvis not performing for children - Mardi Gras participants not performing for children.
Yet children watch their performance. Very few children would have been spectators to Elvis's performances back in the day.
3) Elvis not reading storybooks to children in libraries - Mardi Gras performers not reading story books to children in libraries.
You have no way of knowing that.
4) Shock horror reaction of conservatives to Mardi Gras performances - shock horror reaction of conservatives to Elvis's performance.
Imagine the conservatives's from back 50 yrs aga reaction to today's performances in the Mardi Gras.

1) Chidren only watch Mardi Gras parades if parents make the decision to take them to those parades.
2) Elvis's 'gyrations' were part of his performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, broadcast on television and beamed into homes all over America.

What difference would being in drag have made?
