Dutch courage neeeded to cook dinner

I am going to need a scotch, or two, before I can start making dinner tonight.

My OH has bought some lambs fry Man Sad disgusting stuff, that he wants for dinner. I will have to google to find out how to cook it and get a gas mask for the smell.

Anyone else have things they don't like cooking?

Presumably lamb fries are a different dish.  ,   as lamb's fry or liver is simply that, lamb's liver.

I doubt lambs would have testicles in that shape, lol.

I just love it , with bacon and onion.     It is full of iron but being offal also full of fat.

What I really detest is that white rubber called tripe.

Although experienced, I've never examined a lamb's testicles.

There used to be a restaurant in Brisbane which served nothing but tripe dishes.   Ugh!   The restaurant was very popular, don't know if it is still there.

However, there were times when I was a child when tripe was all that some families could afford.  There were recipes methods to make it OK.

ROTFL  neither have I.

As kids we had lots of tripe meals, covered in white sauce, but I just hated it.  I don't know what's

worse to look at raw,  a big slippery blob of white rubber,   ,   or     red.

I agree.

In Karachi, as part of the bazaar, there is a meat hall, where men sitting up on benches, were dissecting carcasses, they hold one end with their toes, and cut the meat into portions.

Part of the meat hall is a long narrow area, where EVERY part of an animal is displayed for sale.  I do not remember seeing penises, bit I did see testicles, eye balls, brains, all offal, etc.  I was not tempted.

Other cultures are always interesting.

Eyeballs?  They eat eyeballs?

Gyak.  I don't fancy much of the other stuff either, but eyeballs?

Apparently, eye balls are a delicacy in the Middle East.

I wouldn't fancy that, myself, but I think I'd take eyeballs over tripe.

I've got a friend who eats fish eye balls. She loves them and whenever people eat fish she asks for the eyes.

I have an Italian friend whose mother kills a pig and uses every part. Not a single thing is wasted...and they end up with soap, candles, all kinds of meat. The head is brewed up and its flesh is brined in aspic. Delicious! (so long as you avoid watching the cooking process). I ate a whole plate of jellied pig head, then they told me it is a delicacy that is usually shared sparingly lol

I'd love to try cooking a pig's head. Chris Badenoch did it on Masterchef and it looked awesome.

Don't know if I could eat lamb's balls. Ick.

I've had sweetbreads/sweetmeats and they are absolutely delicious.

A bonus is when you are eating them with male friends 🙂 🙂 🙂

Katy, I can actually appreciate that as a bonus. You are deliciously evil. I like it. Well, the thought of it. Cat LOL
