The world champs, Germany played a strong game but Ukraine were very impressive.

So were Croatia running all over Turkey. Turkey were lucky it wasn't 3 or 4 nil.

Turkey 0 - 1 Croatia

Poland 1 - 0 Nth Ireland

Germany 2 - 0 Ukraine

(Russia and England have been warned by UEFA, any more violence from fans and both teams could be kicked out of the cup)

And on the violence, Russia have received a suspended disqualification together with a large fine. Also approx 50 Russians have been deported.

That should curb the hooligans. Always just a few spoil it for the rest.

Otherwise some great fair football being enjoyed with many terrific highlights.

Around 150 Russia supporters travelled to Marseille with the intention of attacking England fans, according to AFP.

Their reports claim Russian fans came with the sole aim of fighting Britons.

seems there are at least 100 more russian thugs that didnt get deported, yep, that'll curb the hooligans.

Moscow (AFP) - A senior Russian Football Union official and ultra-nationalist politician said Monday that the country's fans were right to fight England supporters at Euro 2016.

Igor Lebedev, who sits on the RFU executive committee and is also a deputy speaker in parliament, said on Twitter: "I don't see anything wrong with fans fighting."

"Quite the opposite, the guys did well. Keep it up!" said Lebedev, a member of the ultra-nationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia headed by his father Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
