Earwig Invasion

The last few weeks I have been inundated with earwigs, they're everywhere.  I wouldn't say it's a plague, as such, but there are lots of them inside the house mostly around the kitchen sink.  So far I have been bitten (or stung?) twice and inadvertently swallowed one (little bugger was swimming in my drink and I didn't notice him until too late X-()

What are they coming in for?  And how do I get rid of the damn things?

River, we have zillions of pumpkin beetles too (at least that's what I think they are, although we don't have any pumpkins?), but they are well behaved and stay outside, so I don't mind them.

Crystal, yes please, more crickets, we need all the luck we can get, last year was a really tough year.

Bump, I belong to a couple of dog forums and most people there agree that Frontline Plus is now next to useless.  Not sure if they've changed to formula or the fleas have become immune - we used to use it to great effect, but now it's like spraying the dogs with water.

We've tried everything to get the fleas under control this season, I have finally had to cave and give them Comfortis.  $90 a month for our eight dogs, but at least it finally seems to have worked. We have no carpet or rugs whatsoever and we weren't getting bitten, but poor dogs were going crazy with fleas.

I have never heard of Comfortis but I have just bought another 12 month supply of Frontline Plus :_|

I was being very optimistic as the dog is 14 years old.:^O

It does seem to be very effective, but I do have concerns about treating an external parasite with an internal medication, particularly as it is so new to the market.  But we were at wits end, hopefully we will just have to do one or two treatments for the rest of this season.

Last year I used advantix and it seemed good. I didn't realise my dog had fleas until I bathed him before his vet visit, and she commented on it too. We gave him comfortis as she said it will kill the fleas in about 4 hours. It seems to have worked.

We haven't had many mozzies or blowflies either unlike last year.

I do have lots of spiders in the house pooping on my newly painted walls X-(
