Economic policy

The whole World is being run by imbecilic morons.
They all believe that the failing economies will right themselves by continuing to do the same things that have brought us here.
There's only one pie.
The more the one percent have the less the rest of us have.
These morons think we're magically going to start spending more money when we have less every year.

The Government should amend the legislation before encouraging people to work longer.
Definitely not right to expect people to work for longer at an age that is more prone to injury and then not give them adequate protections

Re: Economic policy

I doubt that that policy is designed to keep people working longer . . . I think it is designed to delay people being eligible for the aged pension.

Re: Economic policy

That's exactly what it is. The whole system is going to be under severe stress within the next 15-20 years. On the one hand we've got an ever growing number of people eligible for the pension at the same time a quarter of the population is either unemployed or under employed. It's their taxes that help finance pensions.
On top of that this government sees fit to stop super contributions rise to 12% and are even considering letting people access their super to put down as a deposit for (overpriced) housing. Typical of this lot. No thought for the consequences long term. Just like their climate policy. Let the next generation sort it out.

Re: Economic policy

I think you are right about that but many people cannot afford to stop working until they can get the pension.

They should still be adequately covered by Workers Comp if they are performing the same job they have always done.

If they don't get the same cover they should not be paying the full premiums.

The same goes for private sickness and accident insurance.....it is not a viable proposition once you turn 60.

Re: Economic policy

Spoiler
I did try some google searches before I asked in a post. What I did find is a โ€œScott C Morrisonโ€ who is a US multimillionaire, but our PM is โ€œScott J Morrisonโ€. I did find some sites that comment on how much he is paid as PM and where that ranks among world leaders, but nothing that gives an estimate of his total wealth.
