Eddie McGuire forced to apologise after mocking double amputee Cynthia Banham's SCG coin toss
its been a week for people in public positions saying stupid things.
eddie is quite good at putting his feet in his mouth.
this was not the coin toss to make any statements about beyond 'great coin toss'
if he didnt know she was disabled then he should have, but if the powers to be give the coin to a unknown person dont 'have a go' if they fluff it. doesnt matter if they are disabled or not.
pull ya head in eddie, a coin toss isnt judged on. there are no bonus points for a perfect toss.
at least she did better than that silly 'bat toss' they did with the big bash games.

I would be more offended at people drawing attention to my disability if I was her.
To me if seems you are entirely missing the point .... imo you ARE defending his remarks

I don't think Eddie's remark was necessary at all no matter whether the subject was able bodied or disabled.
If the way the coin is tossed is so important it should not be left to an amateur anyway.

I think we Australians are sometimes too eager to jump down someone's throat. I'm not sure why this is. Perhaps as my son would say it's because we can. Whatever, I'm not surprised Eddie goofed it up again, he's done it so many times before. But surely nobody really thinks he was discriminating against this woman. He was guilty of being an ongoing idiot. What I have difficulty accepting is that the same person can function and survive as a club President.
