Jesuits have a long history of liberalism ++ and social justice big time, and the recent history and behaviour of the chuch is a far cry from this.

He might want to, if he has kept his faith in the Jesuit beliefs, but he will be outnumbered, and will do as he is told. JMO, by the way.

Hopefully some yes, but three huge issues he will not waiver on apparently are
abortion
contraception
homosexuality
which he's ardently against. (can't find the link, sorry)
This stance will not move the Church forward which is so desperately
needed but keep it entrenched in the dark ages and well and truly stuck.
Also I don't know his views on women as priests, another contentious issue. .

Those 3 (4) issues are not negotiable in the church so it will make no difference what his private thoughts are.

I am not expecting the Pope to change the fundamental teachings of the Church any time soon. Pope Benedict established an initiative for Anglicans who want to enter full communion with the Catholic Church because they are not happy with the blessing of same sex unions and ordination of women. In Australia, the initiative is called The Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross.

Dark ages....To understand the reasons behind priests not being able to marry for example, you need to go back to the basics. The Bible has not changed.
Who are the people that want so desperately for their Church to move forward?

Eve:"To understand the reasons behind priests not being able to marry for example, you need to go back to the basics. The Bible has not changed."
Can you show me where in the Bible it says anything about priests/elders/disciples / teachers or anyone else - not being able to marry?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting.
Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End
From the Wiki link posted above ... about the prophecy ...
Often the new pontiff's choice of name upon being elected to the papacy is seen as a signal to the world of who the new pope will emulate, what policies he will seek to enact, or even the length of his reign. Such is the case with Pope Benedict XVI โ it was speculated that he chose the name because he wished to emulate the last Pope Benedict, and to also call attention to the fact that at 7.5 years that Benedict XV's reig...
There has never been a Pope Peter II. Even though there is no specific prohibition against doing so, elected Popes have ref...antipopes took the name Peter II, but they have only a minuscule following.
From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_name
And, if humility is a requirement of a good pope, who would take the name of Peter?

Katy, I dont think anyone will. I think it was Nevyn who made a good point about that in the other thread.
