I so agree Nic,
some pretty stunning allegations have come out this morning
& the AFL boss should not be OS ATM, this has all happened under his watch

Here, here Nic!
The whole thing is beyond a joke and casts the code in a very poor light. What is the bet though that no decisions will be made regarding any disciplinary action until after the Grand Final?
Disappointing too that a decision to strip them of their points (if that was the decision) would reflect negatively on the flag winner should they come from outside the current four.
Demetriou should be here to oversee the whole process although I suppose it could be argued that with communication being what it is these days, being overseas would not really impact on his ability to keep informed/make statements/decisions.
All very disappointing though

My family were stuck in a two bit country town for a while but they had a great football team. A young Glen Hawker, Roger Merritt and the Maddern boys were all playing in A grade. Neadless to say, we got to see some great football matches.. Essendon recruited everyone of them.
These boys would have to be horrified about what's happening to the team the were so proud to represent.

Hi Dixo
footy is not what it used to be is it??
all the performance enhancers they use now
on 01-08-2013 10:16 AM
Hi Dixo
Sadly it seems to be infecting almost all sports these days.
I have often wondered how records will be broken in the future - surely there is a limit to how fast/high/long the human body can run/jump/last in any sport without all the performance enhancers.
I am not advocating their use - just musing about the effects.
I suppose the big dollars that are floating around have tainted most sports - there is a lot to be said for amateur status without that financial incentive.

Quite right, when the mighty Port Power win the flag this year, I want it to be fair & square, not tainted by the Essendon factor.
I think the fallout will be wide-spread, who knows ? Shame these guys can't just use their natural talents, all this HGH, EPO, additives blah blah stuff just taints the game.

the mighty port power indeed...
sorry pct, but some old loyalties are persistent. i have a picture of my father on the wall in a glenelg jumper taking a mark in 1949 .

i am a Essendon supporter.
things do not look good at the moment.
the investigation is taking way to long, was first revealed back in Jan/feb.
the AFL has been to silent and too many other people have been saying stuff in the media.
James Hird will be sacked. a legend of the club will be forced to leave in disgrace.
the only thing that remains will be what action to take against the players

its a pity for them. Hirds a much admired player and looks as good a coach.. i'm not a bombers fan, but he's always seemed a likeable bloke.
