From something that would come to the attention of the ACCC to tinkering of a safety/electrical device?
Without going into specifics, in my line of work it is common with both of those and as horrible as it is I need to keep my job.
That would not hold up in court, would it?

Sorry topside. I've just realised your question may have been serious. Apologies if I have been flippant.

Meh......no problems...
Should have rephrased the post as...
Has an employer ever asked you to do something illegal/unsafe and what did you do?

What a terrible boss to force you into a position like this, I wonder if he would step up, if this job you done caused the death of an employee? or would he point the finger at you, by playing dumb?

Union's bahahahahaha.........haaaa.
I'm not overly worried, a little disapointed, but in this labor market and the way the world is, you really should only be looking out for yourself.
Just curious how safe and honest most work places are?

no one should mess with electrical safety devices

I would make an anonymous call to Worksafe detailing the activity that is going on, that employees are being forced to do the work in the illegal way and are too afraid to speak up. They will investigate. The employer will be pulled up on it, possibly fined and made to repair the dodgy work...possibly leading to overtime !
