Exposed: The filthy reality of Schoolies Week

FLASHING, boozing, sex and STDs. Welcome to Schoolies 2013. This is where the class ends and the wild times begin. As the final school bell rings, thousands descend on Surfers Paradise in Queensland to let loose after completing their Year 12 studies. The results are always worse than any mother could ever imagine.

Would you like to see your teenager like this?

Beware, they may offend.

I wish they would ban schoolies. I don't know why the hotels give them accomodation.

Like Byron Bay?

Schoolies Alcohol-Fuelled Violence In Byron Bay

I'm afraid teenagers think if they don't get blind drunk they're not having fun.

That is a generalisation, not ALL teenagers think like that.

I wasn't thinking of Byron Bay as being a 'smaller, quiet' place. Were I live ( small seaside towns dotted down the South coast) you see small groups (as in 3-5 young people) on schoolies being 'normal' not drunk yobbo's. Their parents won't let them go to Gold Coast or Bali but will let them go to a quieter spot with good friends, for a short break.

Last year there was a girl on schoolies that died falling off a balcony? Not the first one that has died while on schoolies week.

I'll confess.
Two of mine went to schoolies on the Gold Coast (about 10-12 years ago now). They were both over 18, and yes they probably drank too much and were probably loud and obnoxious. But they also tell me (now, when we have a more mature adult to adult relationship) that it wasn't nearly as bad as it looks/looked on the TV and they don't regret any of the time they were there.

No schoolies week back in the old days.

Just swung the schoolbag around on the way home the last day of

school and sang in a group----------no more spelling-

no more sums-no more wacks across the bums.

Then got home and chopped wood and fed the chooks .............Richo.

Same here, apart from chopping wood and feeding the chooks. My daughter & son both chose not to go...big sigh of relief.

if its still on the G/C in 2 years, my boy would still choose not to go. he's not stupid. not saying every kid that goes there is stupid but the whole reason to go there is to get wasted and [thankfully] being wasted isnt something my boy is into.
