Exposed: The filthy reality of Schoolies Week

FLASHING, boozing, sex and STDs. Welcome to Schoolies 2013. This is where the class ends and the wild times begin. As the final school bell rings, thousands descend on Surfers Paradise in Queensland to let loose after completing their Year 12 studies. The results are always worse than any mother could ever imagine.

Beware, they may offend.

I wish they would ban schoolies. I don't know why the hotels give them accomodation.

Icyfroth, re: the photo in your latest post, the answer is 'No', I would be devastated if I saw a child of mine like that.  It would mean that as a parent, I'd failed, was a loser

Truth is, of course, for those parents who claim they have 'no control' over it -- parenting begins at birth.  So to me, photos showing kids lying in the street covered in vomit, etc. illustrate lazy, useless, spineless parents who failed in their duty of care, failed to teach their children self-respect or respect and consideration for others

Just a case of idiots breeding more idiots, basically.  And I resent a cent of my tax being passed into their grasping hands just because they were 'smart' enough to get pregnant

Most kids would turn 18 during the year, before schoolies week.

The Qld kids are 17 very few are 18.

In 2019 the majority of Qld kids will be 18 when they leave year 12.

They are the first kids to go from prep to year 12 and as such will have an extra year of schooling, making them that year older.

Most Victorian and NSW kids who come up to the Gold Coast are already 18 because they had an extra year before year 1.
