It was 43 here in Sydney about 45 minutes ago but it has dropped back to 39.1 due to a weak sea breeze pushing in.

Roll on the southerly buster later tonight.

It got to 48.6c in Penrith. Another record smashed and Canberra's record has also been broken.

The heat from the firers is possibly adding to add it as the wind is going towards?

Hot winds increase the temps very quickly and they aren't much fun.

9:30am 16c and yes, its raining!

things look fresh not dry and dusty.
