Personally I prefer the impromptu happysnaps that PH takes rather than the professional 'staged' one her daughter does. Don't get me wrong, I think her daughters work is amazing, really beautiful but PH's own photos tell more about what the kids are doing and feeling at the time. It's the happysnaps that will evoke memories in the future for the kids moreso than the 'staged' shots.
Think about your school photos. you look and go oh yeah that was me in 4th class. You look at a fuzzy shot of you feeding ducks and you think Oh yeah, I remember that, Grandma took us to some park and we fed the ducks and billy fell in the pond and there was a stray dog that followed us yadda yadd yadda. Know what I mean? well that's what I think anyway.

I did not know that Ph's daughter was a photographer, and that the pics might have been taken by someone else.
I don't know how to take photos that look that professional, and I have asked Poddy, onetime, and jds for help with photos in the past.
Sharing information about camera's, and where we took the photos is what the chat threads are supposed to be about.. right?

I thought so................... I don't care who took them or whose advice was sought.................. just wish I could do that!

There is a comedian called Dane Cook, who calls the internet: the Haternet. I think he is on to something. Some people just love to hate on others. He makes a joke about starting an ID called Bonecrusher11, and then goes on to say that there were already 10 bonecrushers before him. OMG!!!
I don't care who took the photos. Again and again, people seem to get so uptight over a simple question about the photos.
Almost all of my photos are screen shots of my own photos. If someone asked me why I don't just post the jpegs directly from my computer, I would not be offended by the question. I find it easier, and faster to just take a cropped screen shot of my photos, and post them here from my desktop. I have no idea what an f stop is, or how to use lighting, or even the manual settings on my camera.
Happy snaps are about as good as I get. However, if I see a photo that I think looks great, I should not feel as if somebody is going to come along and roll their eyes at me for asking a question.
Sheeshola.
There are no prizes, or scholarships to photography school involved.
(I am glad to see wally back though)... that is serious business. ๐

In the case of the photo comp it does matter who took the photo, that's what it's all about, taking your own photo's.
For anyone wanting a few tips and hints there are lots of good websites to check out, one is Melbourne based, google DPS, it's quite a good site, though there are tons of others.
