The Sydney Morning Herald has retracted and apologised for publishing a cartoon described by Jewish leaders as racist and admitted it was a serious error of judgment to publish it.
The cartoon, which accompanied a column by Mike Carlton last month, has been removed from the paper’s websites.
Jewish community leaders and many others had written to the Herald to complain about the cartoon and the Australian Jewish News had called for its readers to boycott Fairfax Media’s publications.
Israelis, mostly residents of the southern Israeli city of Sderot, stand on a hill overlooking the Gaza Strip, on July 20, to watch the fighting between the Israeli army and Palestinian militants. Nah. I'm pretty sure the Palestinians would want to be able live, work and move freely just like they used to before the State of Israel happened to them.

Carlton is sacked and all we can hope for in the future is that this poor excuse for a human being will never get the opportunity to spread his racism and vilification further.

Yes how dare anyone depict anything that even resembles something remotely like the truth in a cartoon.
You know there is something wrong with the world when the truth is considered racist...

I agree wonderland, it reminds me a lot of this story I saw on CNN recently

LD: "Fairfax has withdrawn the cartoon, it's no longer on their site and they have made a full apology in Editorial format to that fact.
They realised just how racist it was and have unreservedly withdrawn and apologised."
"What I find curious is that many on here are still defending it..."
Why do you find it curious LD? There have been elements of bigotry, xenophobia and racism displayed within CS/CW in the past, and they will probably continue.
You could dwell for a moment upon the attitudes on show here and the political affiliations of those displaying them, would that make you curious? Not myself anyway, because it is what I would expect, so I am not disappointed.

True, how everything, no matter how distasteful, and the ugly sentiment we are subjected to on here is indulged in by the left.
The absence of any real comment is curious.

@lightningdance wrote:No I am not saying it's racist to state facts! those are your words, I find it puzzling that you feel it's OK to support terrorist Hamas and the horror they are perpetrating on their people.
But it's ok for the Israeli people to treat the bombing of Gaza as a spectator sport. Ok then each to their own double standard.
Google have finally removed the Bomb Gaza app from their play store too. It's too racist to meet their standards.

I'll ask the question now for a third time, please quote the bigoted, racist and xenophobic "elements" on display here.

What political affiliations? People the whole world over are disgraced and disgusted at the amount of child killing that is going on in this "operation" people from all walks of life and all sides of politics. It's only really diehard Zionist supportes and neo conservatives that are applauding Israels behaviour in this lastest war agaist Hamas (Gaza)
Because as much as some people like to label those that are against Israels tactics as; anti-semites, racial vilifiers, xenophobes (thats a good one btw lol) and bigots (which are all just ad hominem attacks btw, you of all people on this forum knows what that means Monman), there will never be a label suitable for a person that condones child killing on such a mass scale.
It has nothing to do with political affiliations, terrorist sympathizing, or any of those buzz words, it's just a simple respect for basic human rights...
