I thought the current viral crisis might have meant the end of farmer's markets due to number of people present
But has been published that farmer's markets are considered essential and so are not subject to bans
There was not mention of any likely shortages.....

Most of the restrictions apply to close proximity in enclosed spaces for considerable periods of time.
Wandering around outside would not logically fit that scenario.

Interesting, 'cause the two outdoor markets ( not Farmers ) which are always held here over Easter, have been cancelled

I have known people who do not purchase food from supermarkets and in essence a farmers market is a supermarket for some. I have been to a few and can tell you they are no more crowded than a supermarket.

there are a lot of very mixed message in the news now
like the USA and UK are closing schools, we are not.
our chief medical officer says 'if you have a sniffle or a cough dont run off and demand to be tested'
our health minister says 'if in doubt get tested'

Might be insurance issues rather than Govt edict. Some insurance companies are quite flighty at the moment.
Directly or indirectly insurance companies are an ever present and growing influence upon community codes of conduct , approved behaviour , the done thing
( I get a hard time from riding a bicycle above walking pace - a risk that may draw upon insurance resources )

Is safe to keep open schools here as long as all students are lab tested and those with covey removed to effective quarantine - same with uni students , more so with the current influx of self declared self-quarantined students from contagion countries
The young get ill with flu and covey , end up in hospital , nurses catch it , pass on to elderly patients - like recently in Italy , only was covey only , the patients being guest workers and result hundreds of elderly who happened to be in the same hospital now dead.

Meh, just accept we're all gonna get this virus in some capacity.
No. Don't roll over belly up. We have to fight it with everything we have which admittedly isn't much.
But .......
Strict Hygiene is obviously essential.
And social distancing, which is still a laugh to so many dumbnuts who remain blinkered but I believe this is the strongest weapon we have. .
I had a coffee with an acquaintance yesterday and as we said tata she lunged at me for a hug. I stepped back but she said"Oh we're both healthy it's ok". She's a lovely person and really believed it but fact is for me it's not ok. Healthy people can be carriers and that's what this bug thrives on, people to people transfer.
