Farmers Rejoice In Carbon Tax Repeal

LOCAL farmers are eagerly anticipating increased profits after the carbon tax was axed yesterday morning.

After two weeks of intense and unpredictable negotiations, the cross-bench Senators voted with the government to abolish the price on carbon and the legally enshrined emissions reduction target.

NSW Irrigators Council chairman Richard Stott said the tax was crippling farmers for no real reason and the repeal was "a must".

"It's a most ridiculous think when the country' struggling to put an unnecessary impost on farmers," Mr Stott said.

"Every irrigator in the Riverina who uses electricity for centres pivots, or drip irrigation, everyone will register big savings.

"In my own farming business alone it's going to save me $50,000 per year.

"NEW figures to be released this week by Australia's National Greenhouse Gas Inventory will show the carbon tax has reduced Australia's greenhouse gas emissions by less than 0.1 per cent, News Corp newspapers report today.

The figures show the introduction of the carbon tax coincided with a reduction of greenhouse gases of around 300,000 tonnes in the first full financial year of operation, the report says."

Re: Farmers Rejoice In Carbon Tax Repeal

Now, with the carbon tax legislation repealed we are back in that vacuum of denial driven not by science but a theology so false and so evil at its source that it contradicts everything that has previously generated pride in our achievements. In time, the people will once again tire of seeing their living standards fall; they will be wiser to the broken promises, the pious rhetoric of dishonest men, the incessant greed that drives their masters so relentlessly. They will witness the rest of the world adopting some form of carbon price mechanism and eventually be forced to play catch-up. Then, they will long for the great reformers of the past. Frankly, it canโ€™t come soon enough

The point is that farmer's should be looking at alternative generation of electricity.  The rest of the world is.  Now the farmers have no incentive to do so.  And Australia is losing the opportunity to be in the forefront of the new emerging industries.  In Europe farmers allow windmills on their land and  also get income from them.

Carbon price helped curb emissions, ANU study finds

Australia cut carbon dioxide emissions from its electricity sector by as much as 17 million tonnes because of the carbon price and would have curbed more had industry expected the price to be permanent, according to an Australian National University study.

The report, due to be submitted for peer-reviewed publication, found the two years of the carbon price had a discernible impact on emissions even assuming conservative responses by consumers and businesses.

The point is that governments should be giving incentives to investment in renewable energy, rather than raising the cost of fossil fuel to manufacturors and producers, driving them offshore (where the don't have such taxes) or running them off the land.

People - It's a scam - the Carbon Dioxide Mad-made global warming / climate change SCAM.

Designed to allow the introduction of a very nasty political agenda by allowing public acceptance.

Ask, who was your money going to ???

Alot of people made alot of money, whilst YOU became poorer.

Carbon Dioxide is not an issue. Worry about Fukushima - which the media treats with a blackout on reporting this - it hasn't gone away and will not go away.
Fukushima IS a problem with consequences for the whole planet
