Fed up with Kevin McLeod & Stephen Fry :(

Not the ABC, the KSC

Am I the only one who has noticed that the ABC’s summer (and other times, too) television programming is dominated by two incredibly irritating Pommy prats, Kevin McCloud and Stephen Fry?  I cannot bear either of them and yet, we have program upon program compered by these two self-centred half-wits.

Take Kevin McCloud (we call him Harry High pants, check out the early series) – what a green-obsessed, pretentious tosser.  The other night we caught a bit of a program where he was in effect berating the not-very-well-off couple for ordering a kit home.  What – not a kit home?  What they really should have done, according to Kevin, is commission an architect to design some completely impractical and expensive abode made out of driftwood and hemp.

And as for Stephen Fry, who evidently thinks Australians should be incarcerated because of our annoying accents (the upward inflexion at the end of sentences does not go down well with this Oxbridge educated bore), is on program after program, including the ridiculous and dreary QI.  This program really needs to be renamed  - NI.

To be frank, I would rather have repeats of repeats of some of the entertaining drama and comedy produced locally for the ABC – The Library, The Moodys, The Slap, The Time of our Lives, Upper Middle Bogan, etc.  Anything but more Kevin and Stephen.

I'm afraid I have to agree 100% with Judith's complaint. Weeks & weeks of re runs of Grand Designs & now they have gone back to when Kevin had hair. And Stephen Fry! OMG...  he's everywhere, pretentious bumptious snob, I'm so sick of him.

Many of those that I know in architecture and/or design regularly watch Grand Designs, and appreciate Kevin McLeod.

I certainly like him and always find his show interesting.

There are plenty of other programs to watch if this is not your taste.

I love Grand  Designs but McLeod is a pretentious  knob, he’s  spoiled  it now.

Re: Fed up with Kevin McLeod & Stephen Fry :(

I would have bet you all would have read it given your taste in television shows. but...as I said; different strokes.

Silve Faun, what a strange assumption.   50 Shades surely is the antithesis of programs like Grand Designs and Stephen Fry.

From reviews,  50 Shades it is right down there with Big Brother, et al.

Kevin McLeod and Stephen are the epitome of good manners and courtesy and certainly apperar knowledgeable.....we could certainly do with a lot more of that on TV.

I have been a great fan of Fry since the series "Absolute Power".

That's what I was thinking.

There isn't too much intelligence on TV generally but these 2 both do clever TV and are both extremely smart people in their own right.

So why would someone who likes shows of this calibre read something as banal as 50 Shades?

I can't imagine anything would possess me to read the 50 shades book.  Nor can I make a link between people watching either of those two people and that book.  Puzzling.

Re: Fed up with Kevin McLeod & Stephen Fry :(

As he is a staunch critic of the ABC, perhaps Silverfaun doesn't watch the ABC so therefore wouldn't know who McLoud or Fry are or what they do.

Perhaps his post was as simple as parroting a view from another anti-ABC/pro-Liberal blogger cause it was a thread he could hang onto in order to launch yet another of his own criticism of the ABC?

I think if you're going to c&p someone you really should make sure they are correct first.

I saw that episode just the other day and although McLeod was dubious about the kit home in the beginning and through the building process, by the end he had come around and liked what they had built, with some minor reservations.  And he most surely was not advocating an impractical and expensive abode made out of driftwood and hemp.  That is just a silly throw away line with absolutly no basis in fact.

Nothing whatsoever to do with the ABC. I love the programmes the ABC rarely put on so trying to tie that in is spurious.

If the ABC wants to have a summer programme that is filled with reruns & English programs why can't they re run Australia's excellent programmes instead. We have been inundated with Fry personal crusades for years & McLeod is a  a snob no denying that.

Please don't try to make this about politics, nothing to do with politics. Please don't cast aspersions reply to the post  and please don't make it personal, many jumped on here simply to have a dig.

The programmes themselves are good but the puffed up importance & the snob factor of McLeod  & the bumptious over exposed Fry is tiring to say the least and we are going to be hit over the head soon with another Fry personal crusade,no wonder he's starting to get on everybody's nerves.

That is an opinion I have and I'm entitled to it.
