there was a contestant on one series of America's top model who had also been through this horrendous procedure as a child. she is also an amazing campaigner for the rights of young women.
i know it isn't legally allowed in Australia but by letting it happen without prosecution or by not positively working to cease the practice than it is being allowed to happen

no his comment wasn't but many do think like that and there are some things there are no excuses for
It wasn't? ?:| OK. I agree many do think like that. And we allow them to practice what they want because of their culture or religion. My point is we allow Jews to circumcise boys so if it's in their religion and culture obviously we're saying we shouldn't challenge it.

I agree with you there in a way, Bob. While male circumcision is also genital mutilation, it's designed to enhance secksual prowess, while the female version is devised to severely restrict it.
There is no valid medical reason any normal, healthy, functional man needs to have the snip. Circumcision, male or female, is an ancient barbaric religious and cultural practice passed on to us through Christianity, and has no place in our modern and enlightened times.
Having said that, I wonder how these cultures look upon our practice of taxpayer funded legal abortion on demand.
But that's a whole 'nother topic.

I actually don't have a problem with male or female circumcision done for religious reasons WHEN they're old enough to make that decision themselves and PROVIDED they have all the evidence.
I think it's wrong to enforce a religion on a child and even worst to perform an irreversible procedure on THEIR body.
Like I said, religion makes good people do evil things.
