I have been trying to get 'the wife' a flight from Sunshine Coast to Port Macquarie. She doesn't care what day she goes and wants to spend about 2 weeks down there. I have tried thousands hundreds many days but all the cheap flights are gone. Does anyone know if you can, instead of nominate a day, you can get a list of days when cheap flights are available?

Are you trying to book for the near future? If so, the special rate seats for those are probably sold by now.
If so, need to book further in advance now.
If you sign up to receive emails from the airlines, they will send out details of specials in the emails.
Airline booking searches are done by specific dates ... departure.... return.
If wouldn't really help you if you could search by special fares available and it came up with a departure one dated next week and a return one dated 2 months away.

We have just booked a flight from Melbourne to Cairns for $91.- for the 16th of May with Tigerair. Saving about $60.- each. Yes, the cheaper flights are booked out for short notice. We will also book our return flights once we arrive at our destination. Return will be end of August or early September, depending when we can get a cheaper flight. We like Tigerair, had good experiences with this Air Line. Our flight will leave Melbourne at 10.30am, so we have to catch the early bus to Melbourne at 5.50am. Later flights for that day are dearer.
I have flown Melbourne to Coffs Harbour with Virgin and was at some stage delayed by four hours in Sydney. Comming back to Melbourne a similar thing happened. Instead of arriving at 6pm I arrived at 11pm. Much to late to catch a bus home and had to pay for overnight accomodation in Melbourne. Besides, Virgin is much dearerr than Tigerair.
Just keep looking and compare times of travel and dates.

Just a suggestion - on the airline website when you are seraching for flights, select dates around about when you want to travel and tick the "My travel dates are flexible" you should then get the prices for several days either side of the date you selected and it should show the cheapest price available for the period. With some websites, you can then go forward or back in fortnightly chunks until you find one cheap enough.

Hey rabbits (fellow sunny coaster)
When I fly out of SC I use one airline and use a different airline for the return.
Most of the good specials are say $79 one way, but when you click to book a return, it goes us dramitacally (never just twice the price).
So book Virgin to leave SC and book Jetstar to leave PM
It used to work using the same airline, just doing seperate bookings, but think they are on to that now LOL

It may be better to check the trains, pension card/free train travel etc.

well, I found flights and she is booked to leave tomorrow.
Now, I want to make it very clear that, while I appreciate that there will be dozens of women that would like to take advantage of her being away for twelve days, to visit me, I would ask that you try to curb those desires, or at the very least form an orderly queue.
Thank you all.
