Flu Vaccine - for older people

Has anyone had the flu vaccine this year?

And did you have any side effects?

I probably should have had it earlier,  like early May, I'm thinking.

I did the right thing and had the vaccine last Wednesday arvo.

Now, normally,  I have no side effects.  But the nurse told me that

this year I may be 'unwell' for a few days.

Unwell, she says!    I've been pretty darn sick since then,  and today

has been the worst day so far.

My lungs feel like they want to jump out through my mouth with every

cough.   I have had to sleep sitting up because I cough more lying down.

I am hoping I've hit the worst of it and that tomorrow will be a better day

Anybody?

Last year I had it and 3 weeks after got asthma very bad I was sick for 3 months.

I have had it this yr, and about a month after got a cold and 4 weeks later I still have that cold or the remnants of it, I have a blocked ear, and nasal congestion and ulcers in my mouth.........

I am seriously thinking that next year I will not have it.

I said older, cos there was a settlement for a child who had the vaccine.

I didn't want people to think it was a continuing thread

Had it years ago ...got sick ..blamed the vaccine ..didn't have a shot for years
Then found out it wasn't the vaccine...was getting sick anyway !

Had shot this year ..no problems .

This is interesting !

Myth ...You can catch the flu from the vaccine.

The vaccine is made from an inactivated virus that can't transmit infection. So people who get sick after receiving a flu vaccination were going to get sick anyway. It takes a week or two to get protection from the vaccine. But people assume that because they got sick after getting the vaccine, the shot caused their illness.
