Footy players wonder why they've viewed as dumb boofheads

This story has been bugging me for days so thought I'd share and see what others think  🙂

The parents did not give permission for the image to be used.

There is a photo on the link and more of the story also.

CHANNEL 9 have refused to apologise to the parents of a baby girl who  was branded "ugly" by panellists on The Footy Show and likened to rugby league  great Peter Sterling.

Michael and Melanie Richmond, from Avalon on Sydney's northern beaches, said  they were "still in shock and dumbfounded" after a Facebook image of their  firstborn daughter Bella was broadcast on Thursday's episode of The Footy Show  without their permission.
Mr Richmond said the image of his daughter,  taken last year, was posted on his wife's Facebook account.
"I understand  how Facebook works and that when you share photos they become public and there's  nothing you can do," he said.
"The fact is that somewhere, somehow, a  producer has gotten a photo of my daughter and made the decision to put it on  television. I know it's supposed to be tongue in cheek but she's just a baby.  It's not cool."

A fan of the show in the past, Mr Richmond said he  and his wife would be switching off from now on.
A Channel 9 spokeswoman  said the network would not be making any comment or apologising to the family  when approached again today.

The picture of Bella was taken on Mother's Day last year when she was six  months old and posted on Mrs Richmond's Facebook account.

In another story, it said a family member/friend sent the photo (taken from the mother's FB page) to The Footy Show.

I would like to know if that was true. Puts a new dimension on it, imo.

Still it is a pretty mean thing to do, and not funny,

Nice sort of friend, if that's true. Could be mutual fb friend sent it, as they live near one of the presenters.

"Regarding recent articles in News Ltd papers, the Look-A-Likes photo was sent into The Footy Show by a friend of the family and was not taken off Facebook," the statement read.

One can't take it too seriously if said from one person to another.

But some people just don't have much tact.

Then to say it over a media network is plainly stupid.

I guess some boys don't grow up and need to resort to such humour to get a laugh.

K & J your ID reminds me of another not so sensible footballer. 😉

I guess some people have a strange idea about humour........ why not just apologise?

If I thought a child was "ugly" I would never voice it or put it in print.

That is one BUT ugly kid and it sure got hit with the ugly stick several times at birth and YES it does look like Peter Sterling

BIG hint you dont want pictures out there DONT put them on the web in any form and once you do they are PUBLIC domain and the fact that their FRIEND sent it into that segment they should be after him NOT the show....

Just another Gen Y memememememe family with a very unattractive kid after their 2 minutes of fame

Put it on Facebook and you set it free

HERE'S a tip for the hyper-connected. If you don't want people to scrutinise your half-naked form draped over the lout who beat you up post-Grammy's, or your swimming mate brandishing automatic weapons, or that naked selfie post-Newsroom shoot, or your ring-free wedding finger while your Australian fiancee is out of town, don't share it.

Don't post the evidence to Facebook or Twitter. Don't share photos on Instagram. Don't add them to Flickr. Don't even upload them to Google+ (social echo chamber though it may be).

Privacy is a quaint notion in a post-Zuckerberg world.

We may kid ourselves that our kitten photos, duck-face selfies and bar celebrations go no further than 400 of our closest friends, but unless you have those settings locked down tight, and those "friends" closely vetted, there's every chance that they could spread.
