Ok so they are free. But the guy wanted to come in to the house and install them and take a photo of my TV. WT??!!! I said I couldn't let him in without seeing identification. He didn't have any. So I said 'no thanks'.
I googled and apparently they are not worth it. They turn off the TV after an hour and it can take a minute to turn it back on. Not good if you are watching a movie. You can increase timer to 3 hours but I've read it often defaults back to an hour.
Have you received your free green powerboard?

Well it hasn't turned itself off so far. I think it's because I use the remote every commercial break flicking through channels?
I had a car boot load of shopping when I saw the guy out the front so I asked him if he'd help carry my shopping in, which he did, along with his trolley of powerboards

I have something similar and it has saved me a fair bit on electricity as my TV, Topfield and radio are no longer left on standby all day and night. It did not take long to get used to the system and I love it
I have something which costs me nothing and I get a little bit of much needed excercise into the bargain. It's my finger. I get up off my couch and switch my appliances off at the wall after I've finished using them.
Perhaps I could sell my system to you?

acacia.....my power points are behind all my appliances and not easy to reach. Good when little ones are here so often ๐
I didn't like the power saving things either....unless you are sitting watching and waiting for that green light to start flashing it's warning it all turns off. The power saving mode on most appliances use very little power to start with.....and I recall being told it is not wise to turn the power off completely on these new tv's?

If my MyStar box gets turned off it takes about 10-15 minutes to reset when the power comes back on. That thingy would be hopeless.

LOL and I thought I was the only one who refused the installer into my house! If I let her in she would have no doubt a heart attack when she saw the knotted bundle of cables behind my computer desk. I really would not want anybody to fiddle with them. And I do switch it all off at the wall when not in use anyway.

The free powerboard is now back in it's box. My son, who is a whizz when it comes to science and stuff, said it wasn't worth it, it would make no discernable difference to my power bills and it was using power flashing that blue light on and off every time I used the remote anyway.
Well, that was a waste of government money.

We switch our tv and dvd player off at the powerpoint every night, it's just habit now, so we really wouldn't need those powerboards anyway..

I did let the guy come in and install it and yes, if I didn't activate the remote it would turn off after an hour.
But then would come straight back on when I used the remote.
However....... I found that if I wanted to set the timer to record something like late in the night
that was switched off too!
I don't know if it does that with PVRs and I'm still using a VCR but anyway that was the end of
the green powerboard for me. And as it takes me 2 seconds to switch off the tv manually it is no loss. .

Sounds like the green boards would be good for heaters, irons and dryers. Things that can start fires.

twinkles . . My tv switch is not reachable so I use a long bamboo cane to flick the switch. Only thing which has to stay on is the fridge.
