Freya Newman To Join The Greens

THE student who leaked details of Frances Abbott’s scholarship has been selected for a position with The Greens.

Freya Newman, 21, was successful in securing a paid internship in the office of Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon after the part-time position was advertised in November 2014.

“Following an extensive application process involving over 160 applicants and two rounds of interviews we offered the position to Freya,” Ms Rhiannon said.

“Freya was an outstanding applicant and we are very much looking forward to having her on board.”

Correct, she didn't hack anyone's details.

She used another staff member's log-in without permission, that is not hacking.

Either way, criminal !

Some get given scholarships, some end up with free education and a free ride by other means !

Canada is one where DUI is a problem.

And as above, Freya will always have to apply for a Visa to travel to the US from now on, IF they grant her one.

She didn't just hack anyone's details, a family member of a senior politician ! You can bet her name is in a US database anyway now.

I already posted facts about that earlier in the thread

AUSTRALIANS DO NOT NEED A VISA TO ENTER THE US

Australians apply for online for an ETSA.. costs about $30..  a right for entry. IF applicants are required to inlcude convictions without recordings on that application.. that doesn't automatically mean they will be denied entry. It depends on the crime... a minor crime such as Freya's may not prevent entry.

The ETSA if approved is valid for 2 years. I did one a couple of years ago.

She doesn't have a DIU so mentioning Canada is irrelevant.

People in this thread are carrying on like she is a international drug runner or mass murderer! Not a person who was charged with a minor crime and received a convction WITHOUT RECORD!

A 2 day a week, internship (for a limited time) is not a personal gain. She hasn't been given a job with the Greens on $200 000 a year salary for dobbing on Abbott's daughter! Perspective is needed there.

US  - Visa Waiver Program  - is what Australians (and some other countries) are eligible for.

This the security question on the ETSA application (US) re convictions.

Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?

AND

Have you ever violated any law related to possessing, using, or distributing illegal drugs?

Notes:

This question refers to crimes involving moral turpitude - Such offenses generally involve conduct which is inherently base, vile, or depraved and contrary to the accepted rules of morality and the duties owed to persons or society in general. There are factors, such as the age of the offender or the date of the offense that may affect whether an offense will be considered a crime involving moral turpitude for purposes of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

For further information refer to § 212(a)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. § 1182(a)(2), § 101(a)(43) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. § 1101(a)(43) and corresponding regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations.

Yes, that was the comment.

Some on here are sprouting on about Visa's to the US etc who haven't got a clue and have probably never filled

out the form for the US or gone there. It's like the blind leading the blind !

I never said she would be denied entry, I said she coulod be denied entry and that because she was charged

she would have to apply for a Visa, as opposed to those of us who just do a Visa waiver which is easy.

Yes, I have been to the US (in 2012) Yes, I applied for and got approval for an ETSA.

Australians DO NOT NEED A VISA to enter the US. Eligible for the Visa Waiver Program. They can make declarations on the ETSA form about their criminal history.

The above posts are direct quotes from the ETSA application form/requirements for past criminal history. Freya's conviction without record does not even come close to any of the offences listed in that.

Nonsense to allege Freya won't get entry in to US blah blah when those accusations aren't base on any FACTS at all.

Totally irrelevant to the conversation to introduce details about Canada and DIU charges.

FREYA committed a MINOR crime, accept that and don't make wild assumptions about what she can and can't do in the future.

I bet it is not. She has done nothing that would be a security threat to th US.

Freya accessed a private colleges admin records.. not personal accounts of any politician or their family.

Hence my comment earlier about she might have trouble getting into the US (for one) or other countries

because of how they ask the questions. I know people who can't get into the US for being arrested and

charged.

***Criminal conviction or Not, she will have to declare she was CHARGED and got a GOOD BEHAVIOR BOND

on most VISA Applications if she travels overseas. The US have refused entry visas in the past just because

of the charge.

So she won't just walk into places like most people who haven't carried out criminal acts.
