Saw this doing the rounds on facebook, and thought it could be fun for here.
What's the funniest Australian town name you know?
I had a postbox at Condong once. It was hell trying to tell people over the phone what my postal address was.
Wonglepong is my favourite

William Wordsworth. The only poem I learnt off by heart was Daffodils.

I'm unable to post this particular Austrian town's name here as I'd probably be sanctioned if I did, and I even had a lot of trouble eventually finding a link which didn't have the town's name as part of the URL, but http://www.snopes.com/photos/signs/austria.asp will give you all of the details necessary to enjoy a good belly laugh.

LOL They need bigger screws to top the tourists from stealing the signs.

I love many of the unusual names found in the Snowy Mountains - Dead Horse Gap is one, Khancoban, Talbingo, Guthega, Perisher - there are so many!
I was born in Cooma when we were living in the old Adaminaby township, but moved when the town was relocated due to the flooding when they created Lake Eucumbene (yep - they moved the whole town!)
I remember going there when I was very little - maybe 3? and the block where our house had been had already been inundated but we had a picnic where my Aunty used to live!
My overseas friends get a giggle out of many of our double up names (Woy Woy, Wagga Wagga, Walla Walla etc)
