Future technology & employment

I watched an interesting discussion on the SBS about robotics and the implications for future employment possibilities.  Even now it is possibly, albeit uneconomical, to have a robot to do just about anything.  But some experts think that i another 20 -30 years just about all that humans do will be possible to have done by computer operated machines.  Where does it leaves people?  Except those who will create and control the robots there will not be much need for us; although masses still will be needed to consume whatever the robots produce.  So, what is going to happen?

I watched that, the robot makers will get very rich ha ha!

I thought it was interesting how the mother with children who used them said they related well to the robots because of lack of expression and eye contact. I can understand that, the one from Hong Kong I think it was who had the human like one was a bit awful and probably not at all useful for children with similar problems.

The vast majority of developed countries' population are already robots, they are manipulated by vested interests into buying what ever they are told that they "need". They are dictated what to wear, what to eat, what to believe and just about every aspect of lives is controlled by the "machine".

Humans have become full time consumers physically, mentally and spiritually. The only role that the vast majority of humans can fill is that of the consumer.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

That is what our economy depends on.  So, when there will be no more need for our labour, we shall all get an allowance, and let lose to do what we do best, shop?  Because if we do not, those who invented the robots will not have anybody to buy them, or the market will be very limited.
