So the Lord and Master has acute gout in his foot.
He is grumbling and grouching and and hurling orders at me. "make me breakfast, get me another coffee, get my pills, put another log on the fire" etc etc.
Does anyone have any remedies that may help? because if he keeps it up he's going to have a massive lump on the back of his head.

Now pimpy I will tell you a story, a true story.
Mr F lived on gout medication and VB.
Fast forward to his cancer diagnosis, he gave up the VB and was taken off all medication prior to his surgery. He has not taken any gout medication since 2011 nor has he drank any alcohol.
He has not had gout since.
Prior, he had lots and lots of painful gout episodes, colgout would get rid of it until the next episode, finally he was prescribed Zyloprim which he was on for quite a few years without any further episodes.

I have had gout in my big toe - believe me it's nothing to joke about. The Dr gave me arthrex tabs - it was gone in 2-3 days. As an ongoing thing he gave me something to take to reduce buildup of uric acid in the blood. It seems to be working.
Short answer - see the Doctor.

No red wine, and lots of dark cherries. I think caffeine is a problem also. No coffee for Mr. Grumpy. ๐

Yes cherries or cherry juice was another fixer we were told about.

OH had gout in his ankle a while back. He is 70, very fit and still working in a physical trade. He doesn't drink, is not overweight, and his diet is good. The only explanation we could come up with was dehydration due to working in hot weather. So anyone really can get gout. The pain was extreme, to the point where he could not stand bed clothes resting on his leg. So your OH really does need your help. ๐
Can't remember what the treatment was, but he went to the doctor. I think that is the best thing to do when all is said and done.

French maid outfit for Pimpy.
Dr visit for Lord and Master. To check it is gout, only gout, and chat about any dietary changes he could make, based on what he currently grazes on.
and you mention pills. Check any current medical needs will work OK with gout meds if required.
