Severe Weather Warning 
for damaging winds 
for people in the Wimmera, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West 
and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts. 
 
Issued at 4:38 pm EST on Friday 16 August 2013. 
 
Weather Situation 
A strong cold front crossing South Australia is expected to reach the far west 
of Victoria about 1900 this evening then push across to central districts 
around midnight and into the east in the early hours of Saturday morning. 
 
Damaging winds around 65 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h are forecast for 
parts of the North Central, Wimmera, North East, South West, Central, West and 
South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts 
for the remainder of Friday and these conditions will persist into the early 
hours of Saturday over the east of the State. In areas above about 1000 metres 
elevation winds may average up to 85 km/h with gusts reaching 130km/h. 
Thunderstorms are still possible near the frontal change and could result in 
gusts to 120 km/h. 
 
Maximum gusts reported up to 1600 today 117 km/h at Mt William and at major 
centres 91 km/h at both Ballarat aerodrome and Melbourne aerodrome. 
 
The State Emergency Service advises that people should: 
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. 
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. 
- Keep clear of fallen power lines. 
For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. 
The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EST Friday.

Yes, to top it off there is an anti greenie protest on the same day in the same area. 

I'm supposed to be going away for the day. I want to cancel to watch the storm chasers but on the other hand want to avoid to protestors  🙂

thinking I should tie the dogs up the bed  leg in case we do a Wizard of Oz thing and end up elsewhere. Little sleep will be had tonght I think.....yet all the grandies are out cold! Cat is no where to be found,  hiding inbthe linen cupboard most lkkely.
