Not sure what you are getting at ?
Unless there are programs in place, people don't recycle. We do here in Oregon, because it is an ingrained thing, we were the first to require deposits on cans and bottles, our beaches are almost 100% publically owned, and we have a good recycling program in effect. Now, what happens to the stuff once it is picked up is a good question..........

Exactly what I was getting at. I used to recycle, then I caught the Local Council (Gov't) dumping it all at the tip. I asked and was told that was what happened because we didn't have the facilities to recycle it. Which was true as even the recyclers came out and said No more, we are full.
So for 24 years I didn't bother until the current GF persuaded me to start again.
And then we have the sheer amount of junk mail paper catalogues that is just mind blowing in number. A forest every year, all in the bin.
BTW, Love the look of Oregon, have a good mate lives there.
I think he lives at Bend. Just on the other side of the mountains. He mentioned in winter the pass
is covered in snow.

The Truth about Nuclear Waste Disposal- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mthza0yiE0
Plastic can be recycled without burning. Only if people are willing to do so
Plastic bags from markets, water bottles, snacks bags, fast foods wrappers,, where does it all go? About the only thing I found easy to re use and actually convient to do so is those Infuse drink bottles, (like Gatorade) they are made from a thick plastic that keeps it's integerity better than bottled water. also, the opening lid is bigger for easy access. I use them to collect spring watter. Rinse them out, toss them in a big skid box for re use. The shopping bags I can use for other things only until they get a rip in the bottom and are no longer useable. They are flemsy, But then theres the option of papper bags, or bringing in one's own nylon or cloth shopping bag.
I think even with the best intentions, we are gonna have to pollute some, or create some garbage. Maybe unavoidable, all we can do i think is reduce and keep an eye on our trash cans.
I can't beieve how many people throw away aluminum soda cans, and thats money . ...

The pass over the Cascades to Bend has no snow this year............
We recycle virtually all paper, plastic, and glass. Medford, the town I live in, recently passed an ordinance banning styrofoam, so folks will have to drink their fast food coffee from BYOC or endure waxed paper cups. This was a great example of a local initiative, started by a high school student, who got enough votes to present it to the city council.........So, citizen input can have an impact on the political process.
