except to punch and push them down stairs, it would seem.

Beleaguered state MP Geoff Shaw has reportedly struck a taxi protester on the steps of State Parliament.
Witnesses said that Mr Shaw threw an elderly gentleman - aged about 80 years old - down the steps of parliament and began throwing punches.
"We had a bit of a protest here in regards to the taxi licenses," said a son of a taxi driver, Louie Karkatzoulis.
"About 20 minutes ago, Mr Shaw was just walking from the far west over there towards the parliament," he said.
"A few of the older generation (taxi drivers) went around him in protest during his walk to parliament.
"We have some video footage of Mr Shaw physically pushing a man down and swinging his arms around him causing physical damage towards their faces."

when i saw the footage i thought 'thats what they'll zero in on' because it can be taken either way . the words of the bloke on the phone don't mean much in light of the footage really, as he could have been referring to anyone.
nah.....he seemed to be too excited to have been referring to anyone.....

Politician (or any other public figure) should never push or punch member of public who is trying to stop them to talk to them. And to push down steep steps 80y.o. is just beyond pale.

i called him a maniac on past form . the victorian libs dont want him around either, but he holds the balance of power here and without him they may be gone.

80 year old men can be just as rude and aggressive as anyone half their age and sometimes even more so, don't excuse the man because of his age, if anything he should know better and if someone came at me like he looks to have done I would push first and ask questions later, we dont know what he said or how he said it.

Obviously found guilty by some even though the police have not carried out a thorough investigation.
He may have let fly with his brief case but he may also have had plenty of reason to either defend or retaliate, lets get all the facts.
I don't much like the man ekither but come on LL t call him a maniac is a bit premature.
he's also facing court on misuse of public funds . he was on his way already.

He'd have to be punched first to be punching back.
It looks more like the people tried to get him to stop and speak and he just bulldozed through them and tried for a kick as he walked over them. He gets paid well and should have given them a few minutes to hear their grievances.

i read the papers to BTW so I know about his spending and that is why I said I don't like him much but this is a different matter that we are discussing so stay on subject LL. Let the police deal with it before you start bagging the man because you don't know the full facts.

Probably late for a meeting and missed out last night so in a bad mood to start off with, there could be numerous reasons why it happened and I am sure we will all find out all the dozens of different stories ( hopefully some fact but don't count on it )

My, my, And to think Bob Hawke got castigated simply for calling a persistant pensioner a 'silly old fool.' (and not even to the man's face)

The man might have been a silly old fool but Bob Hawke is now one so what goes around, comes around
