Beleaguered state MP Geoff Shaw has reportedly struck a taxi protester on the steps of State Parliament.
Witnesses said that Mr Shaw threw an elderly gentleman - aged about 80 years old - down the steps of parliament and began throwing punches.
"We had a bit of a protest here in regards to the taxi licenses," said a son of a taxi driver, Louie Karkatzoulis.
"About 20 minutes ago, Mr Shaw was just walking from the far west over there towards the parliament," he said.
"A few of the older generation (taxi drivers) went around him in protest during his walk to parliament.
"We have some video footage of Mr Shaw physically pushing a man down and swinging his arms around him causing physical damage towards their faces."

what was the punch in the neck or throat then ? it was high on the body. the newsreader for ten calls it a punch. where do you think shaw punched him then ?

I don't think he punched him at all? however, I can't get that CCTV footage to load so I can check.
Was it a punch? or was he trying to get away from the idiot?

@lakeland27 wrote:as an elected rep sometimes you have to listen, shaw is abrasive and abusive toward people who sit on the other side. it isn't hard to imagine the tone he used with the drivers . if an old bloke tugs on my arm like that i don't punch him in the head. pressure reveals the true character eh ?
Pressure? Is that what you call it? lol OK
(i saw no punching in the head)
i didnt know Shaw was pentecostal, did you?

after reviewing both, i think he pushed him over (the bloke in green ) and punched one of the others. anyway, i'm happy to be wrong if thats the case. his time is short anyway.

@twinkles**stars wrote:News just on says there is better clearer footage and in fact it was Mr Shaw that was grabbed by his arm and the drivers that harassed him, not the other way around.
And apparently he was also spat on, I would flatten anyone who spat on me given the chance, also he had a right to enter the building without being harrassed. Silly 79 year old man should have known better, went back today and had to be taken away because he felt ill, probably put on for show.

I suppose the critics on here would not react and demand answers if their livelihood was compromised at that age.
I wouldn't be a taxi owner/driver for quids. I don't know how I'd react to the changes they're reacting to. The least he could do is appear to give a **bleep** for their plight.

I am not up on the situation at all, my reaction is based purely on the behaviour I saw from the news reports. He has the right to walk to work safely. Adults don't behave like that do they? children would be reprimanded or suspended for that kind of thing.
