It was about a Newsweek survey that was a surprise to the writers because most people did not what to be in Kate's position, eeven for a single day. They interviewed Greer and others to get their response. None of those interviewed, including Greer, vilified Kate. They just gave their opinion, which is entirely what they were asked for.
Was she supposed to fabricate an answer instead? She discussed the issue from her perspective.
And btw, none of us know if she knows or has met Kate in her life.

Sorry polks I can't allow the empathy comment to go unchallenged .
To truely empathise with some one you must first know there stance and the decisions that lead to that stance , other than that you are just bringing your personal biases to the table and using somebody else situation to drive your own agenda and as I have not seen anywhere the duutcheses claiming to be anything about her pregnancy I canot see her comments as empathy I see them as exploration of her position to attack the royal family
Agreed.
I also think Kate comes out looking pretty good here, as she's not imposing her values on Greer, or telling her that she's being manipulated like a child.
Kate's living the choices she's made, and it seems to me that a responsible scholar (as some claim Greer is) not seeking the limelight could have made whatever points they needed to make without going after Kate.
Greer really ends up looking like a kind of paparazzo here.

Greer might have chaperoned Kate's slumber parties!

I don't think she does at all. She was asked for her opinion and gave it. Now it's open season on GG because she gave her opinion as asked. Some people will attack at every opportunity because they don't like her, regardless of her comments.

I actually like and respect(ed) her, but feel these were cheap, ill-informed shots she took.

In the context of the survey results she was questioned about they're not. Whatever she said she would have been attacked.
Say nothing = too gutless sell out
Say what she thought = attack of Kate even though it wasn't
Say the opposite = too gutless sell out
That's right, she's been judged as a bitter old woman past her use by date who no longer has the right to voice her opinion, according to some..
Please don't take that as a personal comment directed at you, it wasn't 😄
